NEW NAME!! THE ETHIOPIAN SPICED WILL NOW BE CALLED CURRY SPICE!!
In Ethiopia, they make a version of ghee called Niter Kibbeh, which translates to “Spiced Butter.” This variation inspired the flavor for this ghee. The curry-like flavor is derived from the use of spices and aromatics commonly found in East African, Middle Eastern, and Indian cooking infused into a clarified butter base. We have taken this method of making ghee and transformed the plain flavor of our ghee into something that reminds us of a powerhouse of curry flavor. All our spices are individually roasted over an open flame with great care in order to maximize the flavor of each spice and bring each one to their fullest potential. We then add these to a base of red onions, ginger, and garlic to add full body and a well-balanced flavor to the ghee. This ghee is sure to make your entire kitchen smell wonderful with all the scents of a souk spice market. It works well as a replacement for the traditional ghee or other oils where a full boost of curry flavor is needed! It’s excellent as a basis for any curry dish, but also works well with any vegetable or grain that can be bland by itself; cauliflower, potatoes, rice, quinoa, and even corn work well and soak up the amazing and spice driven flavor of this ghee.

This ghee right from opening the jar just yells WOW! The flavors in it are amazing. Toss over cauliflower, broccoli, or even chicken and it’s incredible.

I love it with cauliflower! I sauteed cauliflower with it and blended up for a soup and it was perfect!
